Donaldsonville, LA— The River Road African American Museum is hosting the annual birthday celebration for the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday with a Candlelight Vigil and Commemorative March. The celebration will begin at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, January 18, 2010 in Louisiana Square. This year’s program is in participation with the Donaldsonville High School Black Studies Class community service project. At 5:30 p.m., a symbolic march will lead to the Greater Mt. Pilgrim B.C. on St. Patrick Street for the Donaldsonville Ministerial Alliance’s MLK Program.
The public is invited as we remember the sacrifice, dedication and life’s work of Dr. King. Children of all ages are encouraged to attend with their parents. Birthday cake will be served before the march.
